Biodiversity Net Gain.
Field Works provide Biodiversity Net Gain solutions for developers, volume housebuilders and local communities through the design, creation and long-term management of biodiversity units.
We work with our clients and their key stakeholders to design and manage habitat creation and enhancement projects that bring communities closer to nature, through the development of green infrastructure and off-site mitigation that is high in biodiversity value in urban environments.

-
We engage early and collaborate with key stakeholders such as ecologists, landscape architects, soil scientists and engineers to maximise the biodiversity value of each project.
-
Our network of expert contractors have the experience and specialist equipment to implement high quality habitat creation works. We source local provenance plants from regional wildflower seed and native plant suppliers ensuring the habitats we create thrive.
-
Our stewardship appraisal identifies funding, governance, and potential risks associated with the creation, establishment and ongoing maintenance of native habitats. Understanding critical stewardship components means we can confidently manage and monitor habitats for at least 30 years to deliver legally agreed biodiversity gain targets.
-
The habitats we create and manage generate biodiversity units which can be traded with developers who have followed the biodiversity gain hierarchy but have been unable to achieve 10% gain within their development boundary. We can also help source biodiversity units from a network of alternative providers, helping satisfy developers' BNG obligations.
Legacy Land Stewardship and Adoption Management.
Our BNG opportunity assessments help developers and landowners identify and utilise unused legacy land for nature recovery.
We also provide flexible stewardship solutions for the long term management of legacy and offsite mitigation land freeing developers from long-term burdens associated with residual land in their portfolio.
Our team has a wealth of experience in the adoption of public open space and dealing with planning conditions and obligations. We support clients with activities related to the management company and LPA adoption process.
